I combine my love of the sport and my fine arts sensibility to create unique images that capture the true feeling of the on-track experience. I’ve been a motorcyclist for decades, and after an injury ended my club racing career, I’ve stayed active at the track behind my camera.
Bay Area Derby returned to the spectacular Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, where the new-look Oakland Outlaws took on the Berkeley Resistance. Oakland emerged victorious but Berkeley stayed in it till the last jam was over, in front of another capacity crowd.
Bay Area Derby held their season home opener at the magnificent Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The Berkeley Resistance played the San Francisco Shevil Dead, with Shevil winning a hard-fought game on the slippery new surface. An enthusiastic crowd and an amazing venue ensured everyone had a good time.
Bay Area Derby held a red & white Palentine scrimmage at their HQ in West Oakland. BAD skaters were joined by guests from leagues around the region including Sonoma and Sacramento and everyone is looking to be in great form already.
After postponement due to the North Bay fires, Bay Area Derby held the 2017 Spooktacular Boot Camp & Scrimmage at HQ in West Oakland in December. 6 scrimmages and a clinic led by Bay Area All-Stars made for a great day of derby.

Returned to the MotoGP races at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas again this year. Brought the long lens and captured a little on-track action but most of the interesting stuff happens where the people are. Riders, team personnel and fans are always creating good opportunities to capture interesting moments.
I got to shoot the first game of the Bay Area Derby season, between the San Francisco Shevil Dead and the Oakland Outlaws. It was a sellout crowd at the new 16th St. Station venue. The Shevil Dead came away the winners but everyone had a good time.
Eric is a cyclist and photographer, we got together on a remarkably nice spring day on the upper slopes of Mt. Tam. He did a lot of climbing, I did a lot of standing in the road with a speedlight flash in one hand and camera in the other. Results are well worth it.
This season I am privileged to be one of the official photographers for Bay Area Derby. This is the first scrimmage of the year at their new home, the 16th Street Station in Oakland, CA.
